The 11th 9·9 International True Love Day Opens in Shanghai

Commemorating the Centennial of Madame Anna Chennault's Birth

Shanghai, September 9, 2025 — The 11th 9·9 International True Love Day, hosted by Goldian Group and held in honor of the 100th anniversary of Madame Anna Chennault’s birth, took place today at the East Pavilion of Shanghai Library. Under the theme “Inheriting the Spirit of Xiangmei, Advancing the Culture of True Love,” the event paid tribute to Madame Chennault’s lifelong dedication to fostering China–U.S. friendship and world peace, while reaffirming Goldian Group’s commitment to the humanistic values of true love.

A special exhibition titled “Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War” was presented at the event. Organized by the Shanghai Public Relations Association and strongly supported by Goldian Group, the exhibition showcased over 100 historical photographs and rare archival materials highlighting General Claire Chennault, Madame Anna Chennault, the Flying Tigers, and the Doolittle Raid Rescue Mission.

As Madame Chennault once said, “True love lies not in grand declarations, but in steadfast action.” This commemorative exhibition embodies the philosophy of the 9·9 International True Love Day, offering a meaningful interpretation of peace and love that transcends time and borders.

A Journey of True Love—from Shanghai to the World

Founded in 2015, the 9·9 International True Love Day is the world’s first global humanistic festival themed around “true love,” initiated by Goldian Group. It was praised by Mr. Bhatnagar, President of the World Federation of UNESCO Associations, as “an effort and contribution in the spirit of a Nobel Prize.” Professor Yuan Longping, the Father of Hybrid Rice and the first laureate of the World Civilization Award, inscribed the festival’s name and dedication on two separate occasions.

Over the past decade, True Love Day has taken place in cities around the world, engaging people of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds in conversations about the essence of love. The iconic “True Love Palm” once lit up New York’s Times Square, echoing a shared message of humanity and compassion across races and nations. Echoes of History, A Legacy of True Love

The year 2025 marks both the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance and the World Anti-Fascist War, and the 100th anniversary of Madame Anna Chennault's birth. As the late Deng Xiaoping once remarked, “The United States has 100 senators, but only one Anna Chennault.” Ten years ago, at the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the victory, President Xi Jinping personally presented Madame Chennault with a national commemorative medal at the Great Hall of the People.

At this year’s June 23 commemorative event hosted by the Shanghai Public Relations Association, Mr. Kou Manyuen, Chairman of Goldian Group and Madame Chennault's long-time friend, delivered a heartfelt address. He said: “For more than twenty years, Madame Chennault was to us a revered elder, a guiding mentor, and a deeply respected friend. Her unwavering devotion to national responsibility and cultural exchange best reflects the spirit of the True Love Day — family affection, social compassion, and universal love.”
